The New England Institute of Business at Cambridge College's Tina Lynn Callaway Named Kappa Delta Pi Master Teacher of Honor

Tina Lynn Callaway, EdD, Program Chair of Business for BSBA/ASBA/GenEd programs at The New England Institute of Business at Cambridge College (NEIB) in Boston, Massachusetts, is the latest recipient of the Master Teacher of Honor Award from Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education. Callaway joins a select group of remarkable educators who have been recognized with this honor.
Dr. Callaway has been an educator for more than 16 years and has developed and taught numerous courses in business, computer studies, finance, human resources, and more. Previously, Callaway was Professor and Program Director of Business Studies at Virginia College Online for a combined 14 years, after which the college moved operations to its sister school, NEIB, in 2018. Previously, she spent several years as an online instructor at other institutions. Before entering the teaching field, she served as a human resources administrator, church pastoral assistant, and legal assistant. “She is the ideal example of a lifelong learner, which has given her empathy for her students. She will not stop until she has reached her own measure of excellence,” stated Dr. Kem King, former Program Director of the Business department at Virginia College Online. Callaway echoes that spirit in her teaching philosophy: “It is of utmost importance that I continue to learn as I continue to teach.”
As Program Chair at NEIB, Callaway designs curriculum, manages faculty, and works with several committees, among many other responsibilities. And with a background in leadership, coaching, mentoring, and management, Callaway has earned respect for her dedication to teaching, high standards, creativity, and student engagement; she has been nominated for many teaching awards. Dr. Donna J. Viens, Dean of Academic and Student Affairs at NEIB, stated, “I am thankful for her spirit to engage the student[s] in their studies by her innovative pedagogical methods.”
Mentoring and engaging students, whether for academics or career advice, is Callaway’s foremost motivator: “I wish to convey my sincere interest in the betterment of my students and their education. I express to them the importance of their opinions, knowledge, and thoughts.” As a strong advocate for high-quality online teaching and online students, Callaway is dedicated to interacting with and helping her students succeed. She has developed curriculum for many courses and programs, and she coaches and mentors new online instructors.
Callaway received her doctorate in Education with a focus on Professional Leadership, Inquiry, and Transformation at Concordia University in 2020; her master’s in Business Administration from Liberty University; a master’s degree in Human Environmental Science from the University of Alabama; and her bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. She is a member of the American Association of University Administrators and is President of Mitica Holdings, Inc., a small, minority-owned business that helps to provide housing for at-need individuals. She also is active in her church and was instrumental in establishing its satellite campus.
Since the award’s establishment in 2011, KDP has named a very select few as Master Teachers of Honor. To earn this designation, an educator must have more than 15 years of classroom teaching experience; submit evidence of professional development, leadership, community service, and exceptional contributions to the education profession; and demonstrate a commitment to integrity and high standards in the classroom. The award recognizes teachers of all levels, from early childhood instructors to university faculty members.
